[to splutter - verb (used without object)) - to talk rapidly and somewhat incoherently, as when confused, excited, or embarrassed]

Summary

You are the host of a paper parasite that encourages you to say parasite words (aka fillers). Will you succumb to its influence, wasting other people's time to get a lot of points, or will you find a way to get rid of the paper on your face?

How to play

This game really (like really-really) needs a playable tutorial, which I hadn't time to add. I guess that'll be a lesson for next jams, but for now I added this section

Win Condition

To score a stage type out what is written in "Thoughts" (Middle-right text). After you type out a right word, it will turn white and will flash for some time, so you have a bit to add words in-between until proceeding to the next word.

You "win" when you get through all the stages. But there are also 4 additional endings (yes, I developed things in a very strange order), that are, like, almost not hinted at at all. So, I'll add here how to get them:

  • At first stage type 3 love-able words and type ("can i sit here") [considered good ending but not really implemented]
  • At second stage type 3 love-able words and type ("i love you") [considered good ending]
  • At third stage type 3 hate-able words and type ("cry about it")
    • Then, survive.
Gaining Score

You gain score depending on a type of the written word and its length:

  • Words that the conversation partner loves. (Usually -50 per character, but their patience rises significantly)
  • That they like. (-10/char. + a bit of patience)
  • Right words (0/char. + patience)
  • Keyboard mashing (1/char. - a bit of patience)
  • Normal words (10/char. depends)
  • Fillers (15/char. depends)
  • That they dislike (25/char. - patience)
  • That they hate (50/char. - a lot of patience)

Also, repeated words score less and less points.

Totally not polished. Forgot about the jam until half of it has passed and overscoped(

Known bugs

- When changing settings with arrows, labels for values do not change.

Wow! The art style for UI and things are amazing! Btw Ik its game jam and all but if you had more time I would recommend not just displaying a wall of text for the tutorial
